Paris 1919 - John Cale

1973.

For sure, an amazing record. John Cale, former member of The Velvet Underground. This is one of the many records he have made in his solo career. If this one is huge for you, imagine the rest of the discography.

Personally, this is the first record I've heard of Cale, and I am absolutely impressed with the sounds, his voice, his lyrics and his personality as a musician. He is an avant-garde musician, by far. There aren't a lot of musicians like him. And I am so happy because I knew John Cale, I've never been really into him because I thought he haven't made a lot after The Velvet Underground.

So, I recommend you this week, Paris 1919. Favourite songs: Andalucia, The Endless Pain of Fortune, Hanky Panky Nohow, Paris 1919. And maybe the whole record is my favourite, I fell in love with Cale.

To finish the post, I'll leave you with Andalucia, my top song from this one. I love the lyrics, the melody, and from the first time I've listened to it, kept with a special meaning for me.

Movement - New Order

1980.

This is the debut record by the band. They decided to continue as New Order after Ian Curtis’ death in 1980. You can really feel Ian Curtis, even if he wasn’t present while the recording. It’s a stunning piece that you must listen in a cold weather with a cup of tea. I swear that you will enjoy it.

New Order starring: Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and then Gillian Gilbert (Morris’ girlfriend, recruited in 1980 to join the band).
I consider this record the ideal to start to listen to them, not because it’s the first, it’s because of the sound in it, lovely.
And I’ll leave you with one of my favourite songs, Dreams Never End. And just click here to get it.

Placebo - Placebo

1996.
Just listen to this record for the first time, and you will get obsessed. It is simple, but complex at the same time. Every song blows your mind. With no doubt, this is one of my top records of all the time. Come Home, Hang on to your IQ, the impressive Nancy Boy, 36 Degrees (the best beggining for a record, by far) and the rest of the tracklist is just amazing.

This is the first record by Placebo, starring: Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steven Hewitt. I think Placebo (1996) is one of the reasons why the fans miss so much S. Hewitt as a drummer. Now, Steven Forest is the drummer and let’s say that the band it is not the same at all, but still good.
Listen to one of my favourite songs from this amazing record. Nancy Boy, just get it here, click!

I guess you will like it, I consider myself someone with good taste and able to recommend records, tsc, tsc. If you have suggestions, or want to recommend me bands, I will be here. ^_^
